About Me & My Work

Hello! My name is Thomas. I'm an artist based in London, UK.I use paint, paper and an eclectic array of mark-making methods to create my collages and paintings, with an emphasis on intuitive play, process-driven creation and exploring new ways of doing things.My process involves the coming together of my inner child's playful energy with the gentle holding, guidance and eventual interpretation of my adult self.I find particular inspiration from the natural world directly around us, as well as the stars and planets above our heads. My work is also influenced by both a personal journey through mental health challenges and my professional training in the field.This combination is coming to strongly influence the ways in which I interpret my painting/mark-making and, later, how I present my work.I share regular updates and process videos on Instagram (@thomasbcreative) so, if you're interested in the behind-the-scenes of my work, I'd love to see you there.

A gentle reminder - you don't need a huge toolkit to begin creating. I started out with a couple of brushes and some tiny pots of paint from a paint-by-numbers kit.The collection you see me using has slowly grown over a number of years, often in response to a specific need or wish to save time/effort. On top of that, many of my favourite tools have been found or repurposed, for no money at all!All that to say, there's no need to rush; enjoy the process and only invest if/when you feel it'll truly benefit your creative process.
